She has been eating rice cereal and we’ve moved on to oatmeal.  Next up are veggies and fruits.  Grandma and Grandpa P have been getting their taste of frenetic Colorado weather…80 degrees one day, snowing the next…just a reminder to always wear layers!  In between they’ve been taking the girls (Caitlin and her pooch, Noonan) on some great walks and enjoying the fall colors.

Caitlin was so excited about the arrival of her new cousin on October 9th – welcome Levi!

Caitlin was very resistant to take a bottle after we had enjoyed three plus months of nursing, however, Grandma P brings an arsenal of techniques to the table and now seems to have gotten Caitlin over that hump. In fact, you can see that Grandma P has already taught Caitlin how to hold the bottle for herself and pose for pictures!

Caitlin is still rolling around and we are practicing sitting, although that still seems to end in some sort of baby yoga position. Caitlin’s latest favorite toy is her exersaucer, already outfitted with a baby cell phone for calls, an electronic apple that talks at random times, and plenty of different textures for her new tooth! Yes, while we knew it had to be in the works with all the drooling, one of her bottom teeth has finally cut through. More to come on that front, but for now she seems to be handling it just fine.

Two other couples that we spend time with locally have just welcomed new baby girls to their families – one yesterday and one today.  We are so thrilled for both families – welcome Baby Hermann and Baby Hatley!

After showing hints of interest and starting to kick and arch, this past weekend Caitlin decided it was time to roll over! She is still as talkative as ever and in the clip above, you get to hear some of her squeaks, squeals and razzberries. You can also she that she has fully developed her reach and grab technique as she snags my camera cord a couple times. She has mastered the art of rolling onto her right side and has gone to the left a few times. Next step is to figure out how to get back to her back!

We have had lots of visitors this month – Grandma and Grandpa King, Alex’s newly married cousin Ryan and wife Tara, and my side of the family. Grandma and Grandpa Peterson completed their move to Colorado, although the settling-in part is still underway. Caitlin (along with us ) got a chance to spend some time with her Uncle Ryan and Aunt Tami, and her favorite cousin, Emma.

Caitlin was baptized this month at a church in Golden, CO. She was squirmy…drawing lots of “My she is a strong baby” comments but she was in a really good mood and had no problem with the water. Grandma and Grandpa Peterson were also nice enough to take Caitlin on a photo shoot when I had a conflict…..who knew an hour spent trying to get a sad baby to be happy could be so exhausting?!  I have seen one sneak peak shot so far that looks good!

We ‘graduated’ from our mom and baby group this past week since I’m headed back to work on September 2nd.  We really enjoyed the group, getting to know other mom and babies, especially Sara and Lily, and there were so many great topics of things to think about, plan and/or do with these amazing babies.  As a new mom, it was a great place to ask questions, get reassurances, and make sure I’m not the only crazy one out there

Caitlin has moved quickly to mastering the art of rolling over.  After showing some interest and doing some assisted rolls, yesterday she started rolling over by herself – not just once, but multiple times.  She’s got the right side roll down and is working on the left.  Now she’s got to figure out how to roll herself back to her back since she gets tired and then ends up in a face plant.

We have enjoyed our weekly outings to mom’s group and also spending time with Caitlin’s friend, Lily and her mom.  The girls have matching carseats and strollers, which makes people think they are twins.  You can see how much fun they had walking around Sloan’s Lake and eating out on the patio at Swing Thai in the Highlands neighborhood. Quiet down girls!

Caitlin still loves to stand – I propped her up between our living room cubes and tried to quickly snap a few shots – sorry for the blurriness.  Just this past weekend Caitlin went to another Rockies game and then took her first trip up to the mountains. I rode the last day of the Courage Classic (3 day ride event) and Alex and Caitlin took over the support roles, well maybe more Alex then Caitlin  This was our first time sleeping all in the same room, with Caitlin in her pack-n-play, and we were also sharing the condo with three other ridemates.  Caitlin did great on all fronts – after settling down for the night, she was down for the count.  I think Alex and I woke up more from the quality of the condo bed then Caitlin’s noises.  We hung out with our group at the post ride event in Leadville where Caitlin also got a chance to show off her ‘Baby Legs’ – not just her own legs (which are cute in their own chubby right), but these are individual leg tights – makes it much easier for diaper changes, controlling her temperature, and protecting her from the sun. We were lucky to have Bob and Tina, Alex’s uncle and aunt, stay with us on their way to and from a short vacation in Utah. Stopping by on either end of the trip allowed them to see Caitlin over a couple week period and they said they saw some noticeable changes in just that short time.

We have been continuing to work through Caitlin’s eating and sleeping schedule – she definitely likes a routine and definitely does not like to be hot.  All good things for us to know! Caitlin has been smiling, gurgling, cooing, and drooling a lot more these days.  Catching the smile on camera has been elusive – she looks at me with a ‘Mom, what’s that?’ expression whenever I try to catch it, but we’ll keep at it.
